Decision-Complete

Can I construct a defensible path from the evidence to the decision?

The idea

Difficulty synthesizing a result may expose missing evidence or reasoning rather than poor writing. Applied work is not complete merely because an experiment produced an answer.

Situation

The analysis or experiment looks finished, but its practical implication is difficult to state.

Useful when

Experimentstechnical reportsrecommendationsresearch handoffsWriting executive summaries

Watch for

Sometimes the defensible conclusion really is “we don't know yet.” Don't force a recommendation.

Where this came from

Academic research → applied R&D

Example

A report shows that Model A reduces error. Writing the executive summary reveals that nobody has established whether the improvement saves enough time to justify deployment. The next step is to investigate that implication before recommending a rollout.
